Many thanks to the folks at the Greer Chamber of Commerce for honoring me with the Sen. J. Verne Smith Award. I was truly surprised and humbled. The award was sponsored by Donna and Keith Smith – two individuals who are also known for their long commitment to Greer.
The longer I’m in Columbia, the more I discover how many good things Sen. Smith developed for the Upstate and Greer.
The list includes Greenville Tech’s campus in Greer which led to Greer Middle College charter school which helps educate people for BMW. It includes White Horse Academy for at risk teens . . . the list goes on.
Sen. Smith was known for his independent streak which made him a true personification of the people in Greer and Blue Ridge.
