Congratulations to Mike Burns on winning the SCHD17 race. I appreciate his willingness to serve and respect the faith that the people of his district have put in him. I look forward to working with him in Columbia.
I also appreciate Chris Sulivan’s efforts in running for the seat. He ran an ideas-driven positive campaign and I remain proud to have been part of it.
Both men deserve our respect for the hard work put into both campaigns.
Highly contested races, though sometimes painful, are positive for the community. They force each candidate to define themselves and put their positions on record with the voters. We should always remember that, come election day, voters have the last say in reform.
